 Kitchen sink waste pipe blocked
Author: minoraoz (TX)

Kitchen sink waste line has some sort of blockage. The U-tube below the sink is clear. I have snaked the waste pipe (blue arrow) several times but without achieving anything +ve. There appears to be some sort of blockage around 3ft in from the top of the waste pipe., but eventually the snake gets past. Have tried to remove whatever is responsible, but without any luck. Once past the resistance the snake then seems to continue down the pipe freely, but at one point it seems to meet resitance and it feels like I am pushing something down the pipe. Possibly it's the weight of the snake? The snake is 18ft and the full 18ft has been down several times. When the snake is removed there is little gunk on it. Any ideas what else I might try before I have to bring in a pro. What will they do differently? The Waste pipe is vertical, at least under the sink and full to the top.

They would start with a longer snake.

If the pipe is full, with the air vent removed, then they will use a proper sized snake to unplug the line.
