Went to a customer's house today for a clogged kitchen sink and found these valves supplying the sink faucet. Says "Made in Italy" on the valve bodies. What is under the caps? An inline filter?

As an interesting aside, note the pointless use of the flanges. This is inside the cabinet, against the back wall and the flanges just conceal drop eared elbows. There is no penetration of the back wall of the cabinet at this location. The blue plastic film on the chrome flanges was not even removed.

interesting. So to open and close the valves you use a flat head screwdriver? or is that the part pointing down almost look like a hose bib outlet?

It does look like the valve is operated with a flat blade screwdriver. I did not touch the valves since I was only there to work on the sink drain.

It may NOT be a cap, but rather the handle for an 'angled "Y" valve', since it has a screw in the center of it.

the screw probably accesses a 'screen strainer' element, or, may act as a drain point
