 Issue with basement bathroom
Author: samvrik (Canada)

In a basement bathroom (there is a sump pump) there have been issues where toilet does not flush more than twice in a small amount of time, or if showering water will start to back up after a few minutes and the toilet will start gurgling. A plumber has snaked the line and believes that there isn't enough slope in the drain line. What can be done

big difference between not enough slope and no slope.

only way to tell for sure is to send a video camera down the drain to have a look.

The problem is probably in the pump pit and a qualified plumber can tell for sure.

Something odd that happens is if I fill the bathtub up with water and open the stopper, the toilet will begin to bubble violently then will drain, only then will the bathtub start to drain.

It probably starts to drain when the pump turns on.
