Can anyone tell me what this is called
Author: Laconic (SC)

I know what it does, but I'm not sure what kinda valve it is. I have a room I can shut the valve off, but water doesn't stop. Need help identifying so I know what I'm after.
Thanks in advance.

It looks like an integral stop on a shower valve.

The picture does NOT help us identify the brand of valve, just its purpose.

Great now you know what those are. wow that is one ugly solder joint!

Now hire a plumber to cut it out and install a new and modern thermostatic shower valve since your wall is opened.

Room you see has been closed has been 15 years. Building probably build in the 70s

you may, or may not, be able to 're-washer' the stop valve

but

the wall is open

replace the entire valve assembly

Your problem would that since it is not threaded for its own escutcheon, it had a large teardrop shaped flange that went around the faucet stem and covered that stop valve. You would probable NEVER be able to locate a replacement for it.

This is a Kohler Trend shower valve.Valve stems and trim are still available in reproduction.
