 water saving toilet clogs occasionally
Author: Marko1 (MO)

Hi,
I have an aqua source(inexpensive)1.28gpf
I've had to use liquid fire more times than I can count.
I've learned to flush multiple times during a "solids event" lol.
Is it just too cheap a toilet or could something be wrong below?

I left the cast iron closet bend into castiron stack cuz it's such a hassle working under this house
Several years ago i had to dig up and remove the cast iron house trap and pipe up to the vent stack
but didn't feel like continuing further with the cast iron as the house was rented out at the time.

I am sure the "LiquidFire" is doing absolutely NOTHING to clear the clogs.

I don't see anything wrong with the piping..

maybe if you cut in a cleanout tee between the hangers you can have a look inside the pipe next time it stops.

roll the opening of the tee up to 45 deg.

well I'm absolutely sure the liquid fire *is* clearing the clogs...thats' why I don't think they're in the 4" line...I think they're in the toilet internal trap...

Just wasn't sure if that was a cheapo toilet prone to problems or if some reason the cast iron wasn't done right.

On the recommendation of plumbers here, we installed a Toto toilet about 5 years ago. It's the best toilet we've ever had. Engineers from Kohler and American Standard must feel inadequate when they flush a Toto and see how much better it works.

May be an optical illusion, but there appears to be a misalignment at the transition from cast to PVC.

Hi Paul,
I don't think they're misaligned
4" to 4" with fernco
that's pretty stiff rubber to get very far off

Loose the cheap toilet and you'll be fine.
