 Moon retainer clip

I got all the way to were you need to pull the retainer clip out and there is no tab to get it . I don't know what to do. And even though the water is completely turned off and I've turned the main water shut off and opened the faucets and out side hose to drain the water I have water coming out. Please tell me what to do ???

you had better address the problem of the water not turning off before you attempt to change the shower cartridge.

these moen cartridges are notorious for not coming out easily.

as hj says, he has 5 different tools to use for moen cartridge removal.

Make sure before you start this job you have purchased and have the right Moen clip. There are two sizes.

As far as getting the old one out. Normally I use my needle nose pliers to pull it out but if theres nothing there to grab onto perhaps from the bottom side using a small flat screwdriver you could try to push it upwards from below. there are slots on the valve that it drops into.

Stop! You have a problem that is beyond your skill level. If you continue, you can cost yourself thousand of dollars in damages, while attempting to save a couple hundred. I'm a DIYer/mechanic/homeowner like yourself and sometimes you have to know when to back away.
