 Repair or replace? PIC
Author: Paul H (Canada)

Hi,
This is a 20 year Danze, it sometimes drips from the faucet, and the handle can now be spun all the way around without too much force. The handle attachment nut has an allen head that is now stripped, I imagine that the handle will have to be broken off.
I wrote to Danze to see if they still make a replacement cartridge and handle. I have a plumber coming over to repair a drain, wondering if I should just go buy a new valve and have him change it while he's here rather than try to change the cartridge if one's even available?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

I would replace the chrome parts and also install a new cartridge. You will be a happy camper.

I agree with my friend from CA.
go buy a new danze valve exactly like the one you have.
remove all the innards from the new valve and replace the old valve innards with the new.
change all the chrome parts as well.
by the way, it appears your valve has built in shut offs so the plumber can shut the water right there.
the replacement does not need built in shutoffs because the valve body of the existing valve will remain.
so save a few bucks and get a new valve without integral stops.

When I have dealt with Danze, if they did not have the parts, they replaced the entire valve.

Thanks all for the replies.
I called Danze and I was able to go pick up a new cartridge, looks like it will fit, the model I have is out of production.
I had to drill the the screw out on the old handle, but I got it off, I could reinstall if needed with a bit of adhesive, the new handle they gave me is different and doesn't fit.
I also went and bought a new Moen just in case, I'll see what the plumber says this morning.
