Roman Tub Price Pfister AVALON Faucet Leak Help
Author: 120volts (CA)

I have a Price Pfister faucet leak roman tub AVALON model that leaks about a quart or two a day. No access to inside tub--I guess it's pre-codes. I called PF and they were kind enough to send me new faucets but I noticed they only send handles and tub spout and no stems.

Is there a way I can change any gaskets or o-rings? I imagine these are like shower valves and whats under the deck is the valve body (again, no access). If so, what size gaskets and o-rings? I can't find it anywhere on the net other than basic installing of the whole pieces.

I also need help taking off the escutcheon. It doesn't seem to want to twist off like I think it should. And I don't see a set screw to take off the tub spout. So how do I take that off?

Help!

you only have to replace the STEMS to stop the leak..It has NOTHING to do with new handles or spout. The screw is under the brass "button" on top of the faucet.

Thanks!

How do I remove the tub spout? There are no set screws anywhere! Rotate out like some normal tub spouts? But the new one has a set screw. Maybe the very thin brass ring at base rotates out off? Very puzzled.

you can easily change the hot/cold cartridges from above the tub but to change the spout will require access from under the tub.
I'm guessing the existing spout has a shank like a faucet with a nut below to tighten it to the tub. then there is a tee that screws onto the shank. (just my educated guess)
probably something like this ??

Good news: @packy---you're amazing!
Bad news: I've decided not to do this job

WHY would you remove the tub spout if the problem is water leaking from the valves?

That was my first thought when I read your post, but did not want to embarrass you by saying so.

No embarrassment. The reason is that Price Pfister sent a whole set of the roman tub faucet...spout and two handles, so customer wants to change everything as a set. The problem is that the old faucet is a chrome and gold trim, new parts are all chrome, and the finish to all are getting crappy. They said the chrome and gold trim are discontinued.
