I bought a 1 1/2" pvc dwv male adpt. with flat spots to put a wrench on and the opening is a 1/16 smaller than the pipe, Will this cause problems with horizontal flow. I have had others fittings with the same problem too.

Thank you. Next time I will check them with scrap pieces of pipe before I buy them. Thats what happens when you find something you have been looking for.

other than screwing into a laundry tray pump tappings, i so rarely use a 1 1/2 male adapter, i just use a trap adapter (destanko). i think they are a touch wider inside the male end.

Any chance the IDs are the same between pipe and male adapter, but the flat spots where you measured the wrench opening is slightly thinner? I assumed "opening" here meant the gap of the wrench VS the OD of the pipe?

I only had to use a DWV male adapter when replacing copper drains screwed into cast iron tapped sanitary tees. Each time the female threads were horrible looking but fortunately still usable.
