need more hot water to whirlpool tub
Author: Howie333 (TN)

I have 2 - 50 gallon water heaters opposite sides of house for basic WH needs. Water heater #1 is not adequate to fill 84 gallon whirlpool tub. I also had delay on WH #2 circuit. I was figuring to plumb both WH's to one location, connect wh#1+2 circuits as a series loop back to WH's by circulator. This would give me capacity of 100 gal. and ability to fill tub, and have faster hot water @ taps. The hot water delay is secondary to the need to filling the tub. I was figuring if I was to just connect both hot water line circuits together w/ a check valve; and would use both WH's in existing locations for tub's draw of hot water. How and would it be possible and practical. This method would keep all existing plumbing and WH locations; and save me much work and material. for tub fill, what else would I need to install, or am I better to install system as 1st mentioned w/circulator to fill tub and stop hot water delay ?

Thanks for replies; HR...

Why not just install dedicated tankless for the hot tub ?

I was originally considering to just replace both WH's w/ a navien npe-240-a tankless gas water heater/ built in circulator, and service whole house. I'm not sure if that's a better choice than just relocating both electric water heaters together w/ circulator. HR... tnx for reply...
