This is a cleanout I put in on the kitchen & laundry drain reconfiguration. I removed a bunch of patio stones to run the pipes.



I have since backfilled and compacted the soil, put the patio stones back, except where I have the CO I put cardboard around the CO, then put concrete around it.



The CO cover is just a tad lower than the concrete. What should I do here? Should I fill the hole with sand? Or use a metal CO cover like this?

also, is it bad to have the CO plug fully recessed like this? I thought it is a good thing but now I realize it may be difficult to remove with a set of pliers with little space around it. Should I put in an adapter and raise it or leave it?

Use a countersunk plug that has a "groove" in it so you can turn it with a chisel and channellocks.

If I switch it to a recessed cover I wonder if there is an adapter fitting I can use to raise the whole thing? Is there a 2" fitting with a threaded male connection and a threaded female connection? I know I have seen 1/2" versions of it to raise sprinkler heads but don't think I have seen 2" versions.

You could make a fitting out of 2 in plastic pipe and threaded adapters.

The sponsor sells slotted/cross slotted CO plugs. These also have a center hole in the plastic, or a brass threaded insert so you can screw in the cover plate.
