Grohe Edge faucet handles don't match sink thickness
Author: willyskinner (CA)

I'm trying to install 2 handle Grohe "Edge" faucet handles/cartridges to 30 year old Kohler bathroom sink and the
lower flange nut cinched up all the way to the escutcheon above is not tight to the sink. The sink is too thin, or the Grohe is made for a thicker sink. I'm no pro so I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but I'm looking for solutions.

According to the instructions there is no thick washer or any washer at all on the other side and there were none included in the box which was new and unopened.

if I am understanding your problem correctly, you need to compensate for the sink being too thin.
the way to do that is to thicken up the sink surface from below.
what ever you use doesn't need to be pretty it just needs to do the job.
I have lots of these hanging around so I would use a couple as washers.
they are fastening nuts for toilet ballcocks.
the inside is slightly bigger than a faucet shank so it can be used as a washer.
