broke auger head in basement sewer line
Author: peter9949 (CO)

Our basement sewer line was snaked and scoped several times and it was discovered that a auger head that must have broken off some time back is in line approximately 17.5' from toilet. My question is, "how can I remove this auger head out without a camera and a simple hand snake? Is there an auger head that can be purchased to remove items like this?

Hopefully your sewer pipe is Plastic. If it is you can attach a magnet to a snake very secure and try to retrieve it that way. It could work even if you have cast Iron pipe, it will be harder to move the magnet 17 feet or what ever the distance is. Just be sure the magnet doesn't come loose inside the pipe or you will be adding to the problem. Good luck...

Q "corkscrew" retriever head would do it, but they are NOT made for "simple hand operated" snakes.

found out it was a plastic pusher head that goes in front of scope that was not properly secured. had it snaked with that item and I think it was pushed out to street, several camera scopes show no auger or star push head!
