What would make an AAV not vent until the vent is backed out it’s female fitting approximately half way

yes, but it only one possible cause of your problem.

Would it make sense to have the drain line associated with the AAV in question be camera scoped.

Snaked would be a better, and cheaper, first option to eliminate that as a possible cause.

Assuming that this is a new issue and that it worked correctly at one time should indicate that the vents and pipes were configured correctly.
AAvs only let air in, not out. If, when you unscrew it, it vents by letting air out then you likely have a stoppage (clog) somewhere.
