Hey Packy,I know there use to be a maximum distance you could run a gas line (off the meter) along the side of a house,I believe it was 10 ten.I can't find anything in the code book .Have a finished basement with nowhere to hide it inside.

I have never heard anything about a maximum distance.
a few years ago I ran 35 or 40 feet along the side of a house. it even had a jog in it to go around a bay window.
I used 3/8 sammys and 1/2 inch split ring hangers and had the job professionally painted as it was oceanfront property.

To answer your question you need to tell us how many cubic feet per hour your Gas Appliances use, the distance from the meter to the farthest gas appliance and the size of your meter.

sloren, he is asking if there is a restriction as to the length of piping that can be used outdoors as opposed to indoors ?

Packy...The UPC has tables for sizing gas piping and you need know the length to the farthest appliance as one of the unknowns in order to get the proper sizes for not only the longest run but also each branch. I believe this includes the piping outside the structure to the meter. I don't have my code book to check this at the moment.

His question was NOT about the pipe "size", we assume it is correct, but rather, how much pipe could be exposed on the surface of the wall.
