My tub was draining slowly. After disconnecting a 1 1/2 inch copper drain pipe where it was connected to a 4 inch cast iron toilet 90 degree bend I discovered an intentional dam? fence? orifice restriction so that only a small oval section of the 1 1/2 in pipe where it meets the cast iron is open. (near to top). I'll attach a picture. There was a clog here but it seems prone to clogging and is hard to impossible to reach without removing the toilet and reaching it from the toilet flange. Is this serving some purpose? Can it be remove?

Yes it appears the plumber was negligent in not removing all of a test plug. Saw it out as was suggested. |

It will probably break out if you hit it with a screwdriver. The main problem is to keep it from falling into the drain. |
