 GTS310NE Tankless Water Heater Pancaking
Author: mark (LA)

I rescued this unit from an early dumpster death, it starts pancaking on low flow when it reaches operating temperature, I disassembled it yesterday to see if the heat exchanger was blocked by any debris or corrosion. It had very , very little, I cleaned the flame and igniter rods, the burner assembly, the inlet filter and descaled the unit for one hour. After reassembly, I started the unit and the same problem re-occurred. I installed a new outlet thermistor and this did not resolve the problem. Has any one out there had any issues with these small units pancaking? This unit worked fine for 7 yrs. and I hate to see a good unit go to waste for some thing that might be a simple repair. Respectfully, Mark LMP#5794

What is your definition of "pancaking"? Do you mean "stacking"?

Actually you should have left it in the junk pile. Tankless are expensive to buy, horrible for maintenance, too complicated with all of the electronics on them and just plain pieces of crap, in my not so humble opinion....there, I said my piece. I attended a school for the water heaters and came away with my conclusion. Stick with Tank Heaters even if you have to build a storage shed for them.
