 Pressure Compensating Valve Stuck
Author: RaydeeohMan (CA)

I have a Tempera Valve Automatic Pressure Compensating valve TRB-2 that is giving me problems. This valve regulates the pressure so you do not get scalded in the shower. We replaced this valve in 2013 because it was stuck and would not let the cold water flow. The hot water was not a problem. The plumber told us that they tend to get stuck if you do not turn on the water every once in a while. This valve is for a bathtub that we really don’t use. After that we made it a point to turn in on about once a month so it wouldn’t get stuck again. But, it is now stuck again. I am wondering if it would help to heat it from the outside, or tap on it or something. Does anyone have experience with this problem? It’ll cost me several hundred dollars if I have to replace it again.

the instructions do talk about regular maintenance .
it also shows access to the innards via 2 side plugs.
it says a 5/16 hex wrench will remove the plugs so can remove the piston/s and soak in vinegar.
