Hi, I have a problem with out a solution at the moment. The shut off into my house is outside in a 6" piece of PVC 3 feet in the ground. The shutoff itself appears to be a 1 1/4" PVC ball valve. My question is how would one turn this off and on to work on plumbing in the house.

With a long curb key that will fit the valve handle.

as my friend from CA suggest, a curb key will work.. but you gotta be careful which direction you turn it.
i'm guessing counter clockwise to shut it but that is just a guess ???
go easy, those valves are notoriously hard to turn.

Thanks that's what I was thinking as well but these do seem to be very hard to turn I guess if it breaks I'll just have to dig it out and replace with something a little easier to turn on and off.
