I have a shower control that has one lever that controls flow and temp. I want to change to have a handle/valve that has 2 separate levers so I can turn on shower, control flow and and another to control temperature in same unit
Can anyone tell me what I need? Thanks in advance

Probably a new valve, because it is unlikely you have about the only one that can be converted.

unless you do have the Delta R10,000 Multi-choice rough in valve.

take some careful measures of the opening you have..
they make a special cover plate that will allow you to open the wall large enough to replace the valve you have with another valve that suits your needs. no tile work will be necessary.

Is it a special valve, I need to have separate control of flow and temperature? I have access to the other side of the wall so I can go in that way and make changes. What valve would you recommend?
I know I'll need a new faucet too.

A picture of what you have would verify whether it can be modified.

A delta 1700 series faucet would do what you are wanting to do. It takes the same rough-in valve as the 1400 series with a different cartridge and trim kit.
