I installed a new gas water heater in September and since then the hot water in the shower(s) starts dropping after about 5 minutes or so. I have a circulating pump in the system for instant hot water. I had also replaced the sinks and faucets in the bathroom (furthest from water heater) and had put a installed a chek valve at the sink but removed just in case it is causing my problem. Any idea as to what would cause this?

Author: Paul48 (CT) Usually, that problem is caused by a bad check valve in the re-circ system. We don't have enough specific information to be more specific.

Author: hj (AZ) Yes, it is usually caused by a bad, or missing, check valve in the recirc system AT THE WATER HEATER.

Author: sparky1945 (NV) after removing the circulating pump, taking it apart I found the check valve in the bottom of the pump was stuck. I cleaned it up put it back together and I now have hot water. Thanks for your input. Edited 1 times.
