 Oatey handle replacement
Author: bkb (ME)

I have an older Oatey clothes washer valve box.

The handles are made of plastic and held on to the valve stem with a screw but the internal portion of the handle has been stripped and so I can't turn the valve on and off.

After a stop at my local shop and a call in to Oatey and they both say I have to buy a whole new box and just take the handle off of the new and put on the hold.

$35 seems like a lot to replace an inferior plastic handle!
Anyone have one laying around???

They are assuming the handle did NOT strip because the valve is frozen and will not rotate. Usually a bad assumption.

Is the the style where one handle closes both hot and cold?
