 Is This a Gerber?
Author: 120volts (CA)

I have a water leak from the hot side of the shower valve of the shower. The only thing I see is from the bathtub drain toggle which says 'Gerber'.

I need help identifying the shower make and model so I can get right valve stem. Also, would they carry this at the orange big box store and if so what would be the replacement manufacturer and model? I would like to get the valve before removing the stem if possible.

Thanks!

Pfister, Price Pfister. HD may have two similar stems, but you want the 5 1/2" long one, and NOT the 'quarter turn ceramic seal" one either.

You need a special socket wrench set to remove the stem body. These socket wrenches come on a wire clip and there are about 5 wrenches in the Set at HD.Be sure you have the water main turned off before you replace your Stems. Also many times the seats are wired i.e. have a groove in them that wears out the washers and prevents a seal to close off the valve. You need a Seat Wrench an new seats. Use your photo to show the guy that helps you at HD or Lowes or your neighborhood Hardware Store...hopefully Ace Hardware.

Thanks, @packy!

Yes, @srloren. I have two sets of those wrenches. One a keepsake from my dad; the other one I bought. Life savers.

I also have the socket set (on a clip) for plumbing work --- But if you are lucky, I have found that my 13/16 spark plug deep socket often will fit and works best. It has a hex on the end where a ratchet would normally attach. Without attaching a ratchet, the socket will fit over the valve stem.  A wrench can then  be used on the hex end of the socket for stem removal and installation.
