removing drain plug on old jacuzzi tub
Author: mamacita (NV)

I just bought a house with an old jacuzzi tub, model JRI-56b. The whole thing works fine, but the plug is not holding the water in fully, so over time, water seeps out. The drain plug is this odd thing with a twist top that rotates the drain open and closed through two opposing triangular cutouts, like the top of some spice jars. I think it just needs to be cleaned out, because there is very hard water and I think mineral deposits have left little chunks for the water to seep past, but I can't figure out how to take it out. Can you give me some guidance?

I broke it, so now I don't have to worry about it anymore! I will replace the odd system with a pop up drain, which will be much more comfortable on the feet!
