 Swivel Spout Leak
Author: bartj (TX)

I have a Pfister, Marielle, Series 26 kitchen faucet (4 hole: spout, spray, valve, soap) that leaks at the swivel joint between the spout and the spout base. I removed the button on the top of the spout and adjusted the nut with a hex wrench to the point that the spout was hard to swivel. It still leaks. The parts list doesn't indicate any part such as a gasket that is available for this joint. Do I have to replace this $350 faucet set?

ou should have an o-ring that seals that part of the faucet. Ask PP for the o-ring kit and instructions for making the repair. Good luck.

I emailed and called Pfister. They said they didn't have a seal for this joint and they don't sell the spout and spout base as a replacement part. So I have to throw away the faucet set because of a seal going bad that you would expect it might go bad eventually. This set is 12 years old. I was hoping someone in the trade had a way to fix this.

At 12 years old faucets have probably use up their Useful Life. I would not mess with it and would choose another brand like Grohe, Moen or Delta. Water conditions play an important part in Useful Life for what it is worth. Good luck.

What I do when that happens is call Pfister and have them replace the faucet. I, or my customers, never buy new ones.
