 Plumbing started burping
Author: blessington77 (MO)

My wife and I just purchased our first house. This morning I began washing clothes. I put the first load in and went to use the restroom. While sitting there, I heard a grumble through the pipes. It continued for 15 seconds, then the toilet started burping. That lasted for about 15 seconds as well. Then quite. I finished my business and tried to flush. The toilet just filled but didnt overflow. Tried plunging it, which helped a little, but didnt go down. Flushed again, same thing. Tried to flush second toilet and it wouldn't flush either, just filled up.

Any ideas?

Your main sewer is obstructed and needs a plumber to snake the line.

Now that the washer isn't running, the toilets ar flushing fine.

Would it still be the main sewer obstructed?

Yes. As soon as you use enough water to fill the pipe, it will happen again. "suds pressure zone" is not a factor in a single story home.
