Marks in tub that are bright white! Removal?
Author: T4NKR5 (TX)

Hey all! First post here and am interested in learning more about some bathroom fixes. Currently, I have marks on the bottom of my tub in weird lines. They are there because we put our shower head in an oversized zip lock full of lime away to clean it up. They left these stripes/marks in the tub and I feel like I have tried everything.

-Baking soda and ammonia/ vinegar.
-Magic eraser
-more lime away etc.

Nothing is getting the marks lighter or removed. I am thinking I have to refinish and reseal the tub. Is this the case? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

? chlorine bleach ?

rubber stopper (the old fashioned type that covers the whole drain)

warm water about 1" deep (in case this leaves a 'ring')

2 cups bleach

soak overnight

good luck

Thank you! I tired that before too! It cleaned the heck out of it, but there was still the large contrast. (Picture posted is after bleach method. I also did that with LimeAway in warm water overnight and nothing :/

Let this post be a warning to all to\remove the shower head to soak in vinegar and water over night or until the minerals are dissolved. The original poster did not say if this was a fiberglass tub or enameled tub but I could have missed it. Enamel on Cast Iron is my preference but also the most expensive. All the best... Loren Sr.

The tub is acrylic or fiberglass, according to the picture. Did the lime-away etch the surface? Maybe mask off the textured bottom and paint a coat of lime-away(non-diluted) on the entire masked area?

Agreed..….repeat the original process, only evenly. Masking it may make it look as though it was made that way.
