I have been told that I need to re-plumb my entire house due to the original plumbing being PB. I have had 6 leaks over the last 2 years, all having to do with the tubing (hot water only).

As an avid DIYer, I feel confident that I can do the job myself using PEX. After ongoing research, I'm leaning towards PEX-A, using the expansion fittings/method. I would also like to use a homerun distribution as I like the idea of being able to turn off individual lines without affecting the rest of the house.

My house is a single story home in Hawaii, with the current plumbing running through the attic. The majority of fixtures are along perimeter walls that can be accessed from the exterior so I wouldn't have to do much drywall work after. I'm thinking of possibly installing exterior access panels at those locations once done.

My research has identified a couple of different systems using PEX-A and different types of expansion fittings, but not much information regarding manifolds that work with expansion fittings in a homerun system.

Any thoughts, ideas, or concerns?

Thanks in advance.

I think you might like compression fitting is there a little bit easier to use especially for those that don't have the special expansion tools. I suggest that you research remote manifold method of Plumbing instead of the home run method. Run a large pipe to a remote manifold by the bathrooms in the bedroom part of your house and they never remote manifold to your kitchen area. The remote manifolds can have individual ball valves going to the fixture so you can shut them off individually there also. I think that would simplify your job. Think twice about doing it yourself.

Haven't you heard? ANYONE can be their own plumber as long as they have Home Depot and the Internet. No job is too big.
