 S trap above p trap
Author: Frodo (TX)

Greetings,

I purchased an older house. It is pier and beam with crawl space. The original iron drains and vents and metal water lines are no longer in service but remain in the wall cavities. PVC has been run underneath. The kitchen sink is an unvented s trap, but under the house the same drain line is a p trap before running to the septic. Since I have removed the cabinets and dry wall, I have considered replacing the old plumbing with new and configuring the kitchen drain and vent as originally designed. Do I need to eliminate what will be an additional p trap under the house or leave it? Also I will need to move the pvc drain line under the house slightly over, can I simple curve the pvc or does it need to be straight? Does the vent actually need to be over the drain line? Thanks for any advice. [photos.app.goo.gl]

Here it is with old drain and vent removed. The new drain has been moved from original location. I still have a vent hole and rubber boot where I pulled out the old vent so I'd like to reuse that hole.

No one wants to sign in to site they have to register for to view your photos. Use another site to allow easier viewing. Also you cannot have a double trap on a fixture so you need to replumb your system. Perhaps a Studor vent is the easiest way to go. Good luck.

just use PVC and duplicate what was there (picture 1)...
hole are all drilled..
you can re-use the vent flashing if it is still pliable.
you will need new water lines but that should be the easy part.

Sorry about that, I was unaware that one would have to have an account to view the pics. I will find another method next time. Thank you.
