I installed our tub drain vent wrong. Drain, vent, p-trap. I keep reading about a p-trap being able to use another vent that is less than 6' away. Am I okay to leave incorrect vent in place and rely on the vent 4'8" away?
Both tub drains are 1.5" and enlarge to 2"

if i am reading your drawing correctly, the tub is wet vented. the vent/drain should be 2 inch but it will work OK.

What’s your slope on that 1.5” pipe? Or, in other words, what’s the height difference in inches between the trap and where it meets the Y fitting to the correctly vented branch?

The way he describes it the waste and overflow is VENTED, not the trap, and if it is connected TO an "active vent" the odors will be drawn into the room. In other words, the other vent may or may not be effective, but THIS one has to be disconnected.

no drawing. He said "drain, vent, P trap, which means the vent is for the w&o, NOT the trap.

there was a drawing but one of his 'edits' must have taken it away..

There was a drawing yesterday that showed an “incorrect” vent connected to the tub drain prior to the actual trap, rather than after the trap. As Hj said, if that incorrect trap connects to a vent branch let’s say in the attic rather than runs independently thru the roof, it could allow sewer gas directly up the bathtub drain.
