I am trying to fix a leaky bathroom faucet and I'm not sure what to do next. I took the handle off and unscrewed the handle adapter to reveal the stem. See pics attached. I thought there would be a washer to replace but I don't see anything. Anyone have any ideas?

It is an American Stardard "Aqua seal" stem. The "washer" is stuck inside so pull it out with some kind of pick. The wew stem will be a single piece that is held in place by that "lock nut".

or you can just buy a new aquaseal washer and (after removing the old) slide it on the stem and reinstall it.

Once you remove the AquaSeal, there will be a seat under that. It may or may not need to be replaced, depending on condition.
