i am looking for a mixer location for a ada bathtub

i can find some written explanations, but there are 2 ways to interpet it

i want to know if i can put the valve over the overflow on the centerline of the tub (just like a normal residential tub would look)

some definitions tell me the valve can be located from the center to the open side.....but the definition of what the center is is where the confusion is.....if you include the skirt in your center measurement the true center of the tub is not where the overflow is...it would be 1"+ to the left

Author: waukeshaplumbing (WI) that is also my interpetation of the code....the valve cant be in the center/lined up with the drain its going to end up 1-2" off center thanks!!!

Author: don plumber (MA) IN fig. 607.5 the valve has to be off center.The valve would have to go in that shaded area. I think the vale would go in between the center line of the tub and the rim or skirt.Making the valve off center by 4 or 5 in. Mabey the reason being is for someone in a wheelchair could access the valve with out bending into the tub.

Author: hj (AZ) Also, any one in a wheelchair probably has a "nurse" helping them so an offset valve would be more accessible to that person also.
