Okay, you are a professional plumber installing a hydrolock for the first time. You connect one end to the faucet, making sure that you have the water flow arrow pointing away from the faucet.
After installing the new sink into the countertop, you reach under and slide the end of the sprayer hose into the hydrolock as far as it will go. Next you push in on the little white locking tabs to secure the hose.
Finally you turn on the water and water is gushing out from under the faucet in the vicinity of the hydrolock. the leak stops when you operate the sprayer,
What do you do next?

It may stupid to ask, but did you make sure that the hydrolock was pushed all the way on? If it is a constant problem call Moen and tell them. It might need a new one.

Take it off and install it properly. It may not be all the way into the connection.

It can't go on any further. Also, I believe the white locking tabs can't be pushed in if its not on all the way.
I'm going to remove the faucet and return it.

It could be as simple as a displaced o ring. Take it apart and see if you can locate the trouble.

I just heard from Moen.
" Sometimes the lubrication we apply to the O ring dries up and the O ring slips out of place." Too bad they didn't put that on the instruction sheet.
Do I want a faucet with an O ring which might fail several years down the road?
The faucet has been removed, is all shiny clean, and going back to Lowes. Moen advise that all their current kitchen faucets with spray use this same hydrolock, so it looks like I'll be buying a different brand.
IF IT AIN'T BROKE, WHY TRY TO FIX IT????
Last month I was all set to buy a Kohler toilet, but switched to Gerber when I learned about Kohler's "NEW" & IMPROVED tank connection system. I forget the exact name, but I'm referring to that steel plate under the tank, Is it aqualock?

Your better off going to a plumbing supply house instead of a box store. Your cost will go up, but you will get a better product.

Sorry to here you had trouble with this meon connector.many do the first time and you probably did damage the o-ring seal it pushes together easily, if you hold the lock open as you install it.Think you may have tried to seat it with the lock closed and caused your problem.look closely at any new faucet you buy.almost all the lead manufacturers are using gismo connectors now.I am waiting to see how some plastic liners start to break down that some are using.Just like ss braided hoses not causing floods!~LOL

"O" rings leak because they wear out. That connection will NEVER move once you install it.

HJ?If I heat this o-ring?If sediment gathers on it?If the ph of the water is really high?It fails!!!!!.Roll over a few steam kettles and you learn why o-rings work.Same reason you use red or green flappers.I have posted this nonsense before and am watching as the rubber color changes on the best faucets made.not the color. process!Delta used to offer a white flapper that would have cornered the market if they would have put a chain on it.

If you abuse ANYTHING, it will fail. An "O" ring that is NOT used in a moving part, and a Hydrolock connector does NOT move or rotate, will not fail. ProPress fittings use an "O" ring, and they will last for DECADES at least.

HJ it is a swivel connector.and will turn.take what ever hose it is connected to and rotate it a few times.when new. When it moves when effected by hardness or other temperamental problems it will fail. Why don,t we have viton flappers?$

It may be a "swivel connector" but I doubt that you would EVER get the hose to rotate in it, unless you did something unusual with the sprayer. And that would NOT be an approved use for the spray unit.
