 Internal pipe coupling
Author: sum (FL)

I have a situation where I need to repair a pipe leak very close to a TEE fitting, if I cut it I would have to replace the fitting as there is no enough pipe length to glue in a coupling. I would prefer to not replace that TEE because it's surrounded by roots.

I found this:

an internal coupling that I can slide into the inside of that pipe that goes into the fitting. Since it's a sprinkler line I am not so concerned about reducing "scouring".

Problem is it looks like it is only for sch 40 pipes, and it does not come in 1-1/4" and mine is a 1-1/4" thin wall pipe (I replaced all those with sch 40 except in root zones I am leaving those alone).

Do you know if they make a 1-1/4" size internal coupler for thinned wall pipes?

LemonPlumber, the tree is not the problem. In fact the roots did not in any way caused any of the problems I am having.

All the leaks I am experiencing now, were leaks caused by human working near it, digging, trenching, doing other projects and end up damaging the pipes. It's just that my well pump was not working due to bad electrical wiring and I was not able to turn them on for months, and now that I got that going I am seeing all the leaks caused by others and need to address them. The roots did not puncture or damage any pipe, they are just in my way when I am trying to fix the pipes.

If you have enough room in front of it to use a drill, go to a sprinkler supply store and buy a "fitting saver" bit to drill the piece of pipe out of the tee.
