Can anyone tell me why two toilet seats in a row went from white to turning blue? Puzzling me. It's only where the legs usually are. I don't get it. I can't keep replacing them. It also only happens in the girls' bathroom.
I'm stumped.
thanks!!!

Chemical reaction. Which brand. Plastic seats are warranteed thru the factory if you know the brand. Why consider buying when the warranty covers replacement.
Best Wishes

Probably not a defect of workmanship or materials.

I did a search on the net and came up with many hits on the subject. In most cases the cause is from womens new blue jeans. It's leaving a dye on the skin which can't be seen with the naked eye yet shows up staining toilet seats. It's also happening in bathtubs. This picture is from such a case, you can see where the skin in touching the seat it turns blue. Bleaching the seat will remove the stain. I have to say from this picture it must be one heck of a huge pair of.. um.. jeans!

I'm not sure about that Redwood. In the picture you can actually see where the butt and legs were touching the seat. You can see the gap in the rear of the seat and then a wider gap in the front of the seat where the legs would be. LMAO!

I liked the old detective shows where they would give you a few facts some theories and then you had to figure it out yourself.

Shades of Ellery Queen, but then he sometimes didn't give you a key fact until after he solved it.

It might not be dye sometimes an abundance of a vitamin supplement b6 can cause it. (prenatal, or muscle builders) I was taking supplement's one had 100% daily dosage and the 2500% the first turn it blue the second purple it may be your body's way of getting rid of what you don't need. it can also make your urine smell fishy. I replaced the first one nothing I tried worked ( alcohol, bleach, goof off) the first was padded plastic the second a painted wooden one. My kids call it smurf butt.
