washing machine recessed wall box, water and drain
Author: joehandy (CA)

I have an existing utility sink that has been the water supply and drain for our washing machine. I accidentally washed some punky wood fragments down the old utility sink that has no strainer... and clogged it up good! The existing drain line is put together with 2" steel and all the joints are NOT "sanitary" tees or "long sweep elbows". Also it converts to a 1 1/2" drain line in the subfloor, that is made out of plastic conduit pipe.
Since I plan to cut into the wall anyway to install a new 2" ABS drain line, thought I might as well install a recessed wall box laundry supply and drain. This will be about 30" laterally over from the utility sink drain stack.
Do I need a trap in the wall box drain line? Do I need an extra vent pipe... or will the existing 2" utility sink vent be enough? Where online can I see plumbing diagrams that apply to my situation?
Tanks for your help!

Well you may see 1.5" drain line as the largest piping that you would want to use.But ,You must first, see the drain that is blocked be cleared. If you can not clear a drain .!Please do not attempt, to add to the problem you have now.Good Luck. You should not pile un-needed tasks on top of needed ones.Clear it, or get it cleared .Then posts pictures of where you want to get.
