 Non-standard pivot nut
Author: robertjohnson6211 (CA)

Dear people,
I have a client that just moved into a fancy retirement condo with built in maintenance crew. I figured I would not get any more calls from them, but, lo and behold, I did! Turns out that their popup assembly for their bathroom sink stopper is completely missing. Now normally that would not be a problem except that the pivot nut seems to be nowhere near standard, and I haven't been able to find an off the shelf popup assemby that contains the right pivot nut (this is why I got the call - the maintenance people gave up & told them to call a plumber). The closest pivot nut I could find measures 7/8 inches OD- and it just about fits - but just a skosh too big. Another 1/16th or so smaller might do it. It would be a real feather in my cap if I could find the right nut, (might even get a recommendation from the maintenance crew for the whole complex), so I hope you all can help.
Cheers,
Robert Johnson

even if you find a nut with the right threads, the bevel of the hole may not match the ball on the rod.
lots of stuff is brand specific and only the same brand parts may be used as replacements.

I would suggest replacing the complete pop-up assembly, much less time consuming in this situation than trying to track down a specific part.

Worst case, get the faucet make and model and possibly locate an exploded view to identify the exact part that you need.

For a first clue, what brand is the faucet....the original sink install most often the pop up came with the faucet. You might have to get a brand-specific because it is not really a generic item.

I'm with E-Plumber, just replace the whole assembly.

There is no "standard" nut. Even one manufacturer make use more than one sized nut if they buy their diverters from a third party. Brand or picture might help. Especially a picture of the faucet with the trim ring removed so the stem and body are visible.

Make that three votes for replace the whole assembly. I highly recommend a Delta pop-up ... that's all I'll use.
