 Symmons Temptrol ?

I have a Symmons Temptrol and have a few questions?

How can I tell which valve I have? It's a tub, shower valve and it has the older look I guess. The problem I am having is when I go from tub to shower it doesn't completely go over and the tub still runs maybe 15% but I want to repair before it gets worse. I guess it's the diverter? Will I need the special tool? Also is there anything else I should change while I am at it?

Thanks Ivan

the diverter needs to be changed.
1 800 SYMMONS.. ask for techinal help and they will send you a free diverter.
the older symmons diverter was held in place by a threaded brass piece.
the really old symmons used a clip with 2 brass screws.
what symmons needs to know is that it is tub and shower valve. (not shower only)
you will need a 5/16 lag screw to catch onto the old diverter so you can pull it out.
this is a pretty easy job that you don't need to shut off the water for. when the old diverter is out, turn the valve on for a second to flush out any debris.
just look on you tube for video/s on changing a symmons diverter.
as i said. pretty simple job and free parts from symmons..
