I have a T/N water closet toilet. Inside the tank, it says 1935, Made in Canada. The shape of the pedestal looks a lot like a Case 1st Model A. I would like to replace the seat, which looks pretty gross. The two holes for the seat hardware are 5" apart. I would settle for a new plastic seat with new hardware. The current hardware has lost all of its chrome. My guess is that it would cost a fortune to restore the metal (is that right?) The current ballcock is not original (I think), still works, but the water does not come out evenly. The shutoff still works though. Can anyone suggest a seat model that would fit? When I eventually have to replace the ballcock, can anyone suggest a replacement for that? Any other advice?

You have a 'modern' fill valve with a 'blown diaphragm' - simple fix - buy a new 'generic' fill valve.
Now as for the seat:
If, repeat if, you love the 'look' simply disassemble the existing seat and have it refinished by any furniture repair type store.
Take the hinge hardware to a 'custom auto' shop for re-chrome plating
If not, simply buy a new wooden seat: [www.plumbingsupply.com]

That is a standare seat mounting. Since you do NOT have a Case/Briggs toilet a conventional fill valve, such as a Coast 1-B-1X with the rim flush feature, will work.

Thanks for your help. I have a question about the seat. MY current seat has a standard elongated length 18.5". It is wider that a standard seat though, being 16" at its widest point. From what I can see, a standard replacement seat will look weird, not covering much of the bowl because of the triangular shape of the toilet. Does anyone make wider seats that would fit?

That wood seat was NOT created just for that bowl. It is a standard size and an elongated seat should fit the same way.

The elongated seats I have here are about 14" to 15" wide so there is some variation. Shop at a store with a large selection and check the width on their models. If you buy one you can take it home and raise up the old seat and hold up the new one to it for comparison. If it doesn't look like you want you can take it back.
Also, you can order a wider one from online. Here is one from Amazon.com that is 18-1/2" wide, the same one is also sold at WalMart online, so you can get quite large ones. Do a google search for "extra wide toilet seat". When I searched there were lots of extra wide ones for sale but most are not wooden. Keep in mind that a larger wooden one probably needs to not be so wide that it extends past the width of the bowl much, that could make it easier for the wooden seat to crack.
(I know you want a wooden one, this is just an example)
