trying to remove this bracket but have no clue, can anyone help?

Looks like it tightens from the top. Grohe and Kraus have some models that tighten from the top and I'm sure other brands do to.

Post a picture of the entire faucet from a couple different angles and maybe we can offer more help.

yeah, some grohe faucets you must remove the spout and put a special tool (comes with the faucet) down inside and unscrew that threaded shank from above..

this is grohe's set-up, yours looks like the same style..
take off the spout and get a picture of the insides for us, please...
