I have a wash out well pipe with no foot valve and a shallow well above ground jet pump. The water supply was fine until after a storm with significant flooding. Afterwards it would constantly run but I had same water pressure. I replaced low pressure points and primed the pump lost pressure as soon as the points cut off. After about a day running like that it worked itself out and would hold the right amount of pressure without dropping. Then suddenly stopped after about a week. Tinkered with it again and got it working back right after hearing something inside break lose and water gushing through the pump. Worked perfectly for about a month then stopped again. I get water through the pump and into the house but the pump shuts off while running. I was wondering what causes this? If it was a leak from pump to house it would never hold the correct pressure at all without dropping, right? If it was a problem from the pump to the well the check valve would take care of that right? Just stumped and hope I can get some help, thanks.

At what pressure does the pump cut off ? Normally and when it's acting up ? Does it hold it's pressure when it cuts off ?

Normally the pump cuts off at 50psi, sometimes it holds pressure and sometimes it doesn't. It worked fine for about a month holding the right pressure and not dropping unless water was being used, then stopped working again. Could it be the bladder tank, maybe?

No, it's not the tank. I'd say a faulty check valve.

Replaced the check valve maybe a month ago, forgot to mention that. Any other ideas what may be causing this. Also took out drain plug, it was clogged with sediment. Cleaned it out and pump worked right instantly. But now the same problem and the best psi I get out of it is around 30.
