 Acid Neutralizer
Author: Marcfb (MD)

I have an acid neutralizer in my well system. My pH is 5.5, TDS is 159 and hardness is 5. These measurements were made at the tap on the bottom of the bladder tank where the water enters the building. I was told I should replenish the media with a 70/30 mix of calcite to magnesium oxide. so:
1) Is this a correct ratio? (I was mixing my own calcite and flomag). Now I want to use the premixed stuff.
2) There are only my wife and I in the house (empty nester) and I am wondering how often the neutralizer should be backwashed.

Thanks to this group!

That is a good mixture for your pH. As for backwash, I would not go beyond a three day regeneration. Flow mag tends to cement and you definitely want to avoid that.
