 Septic gas smell
Author: Split1960 (OH)

Strong odor of septic gases in my bas Kent when I run the washing machine. I have a slab floor. Smell is. Omalley ng from where drain exits house, about 25 ft from the washer. Only smell when outside temps drop below 45 degrees. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

if it smells at 40 deg then freezing has nothing to do with it.
if the pipe is PVC then it shouldn't be a pipe that cracked from rusting.
but then if the pipe is broken it should smell all the time..
truthfully, i have no clue ???

Septic tank or city sewer ? Maybe time to have the sewer line checked for roots blockages or breaks. If it's a septic tank when did you last have it pumped out ?

Septic tank. Pumped out once a year. Smell comes back when it's cold and or damp out, regardless of timing of tank clean out. Plumber put a camera down draft n pipe all the way to the tank and didn't see any obstruction or broken pipe. Thanks
