Can you identify this valve for me
I have a boiler system with 2 registers not getting flow, I am told it's a passive system that will not flow to these if they are plugged. The propane guy says big job to start replacing pipes, but I'm thinking these valves are flow control and I can force pressure into the plugged registers by closing off the rest of the loop.
Thanks for any help you can shed here

i could be wrong..but.. i have seen a lot of heating pipes and never seen one clogged..
put it this way.. if they are clogged then there is more work needed to find out why and how to correct it..

How about a better link to the photos. What does the "expert" say plugged the lines, since it would be a very, VERY, unusual thing to happen,

I'd suggest you go to heatinghelp.com, and use the find a contractor search engine. I know of at least one in New Hampshire. Most likely, you have an air problem, and the propane guy is attempting to take advantage of you. People like that should be publicly flogged.

I can't imagine hot water heating pipes would be plugged but it is possible (see below) . By the way these valves are used for balancing the system . That is the are used to control the flow of water to different loops in the system to try and balance the amount of heat in each zone so that the heat produced is even throughout the house. Kind of a poor mans multizone system. They really one have two positions . If the slot in the screw head is parallel with the pipe the fully open. It is it's turned 90 degrees so the slot is perpendicular to the pipe then the valve is fully closed. I think this zone or loop needs to have the air bled out of it and is the reason for no heat. I would check that first.

As far as clogged pipes go, in a hotwater hydronic system , the only way this might happen is if you have a leaky system and make up water has to be continually added. The make up water contains dissolved oxygen which can corroded pipes , valves and fittings over time . If this is the case then you need to identify and resolve that issue . You would then need to replace any corroded parts of the system . However I think the likely cause s that loop is airbound and needs to be bled.
