 Back to Back Toilets
Author: TonyK132 (CO)

Hello - I have 2 bathrooms back-to-back with toilets in both. Since I replaced both toilets to high capacity toilets, now when I flush one of them, the other toilet gets some of its water sucked out. I'm wondering if the vent line is not a large enough diameter to accommodate the new toilets, or if something else is going on.

The problem is most likely the back to back drain fitting in the wall. The installation instructions warn against using a "T" cross fitting that allows water to shoot across to the other toilet.

Of course, if you aren't rebuilding the plumbing system, how do you know you have the wrong layout? When water empties from other bowl.

How much water empties? And do you have access from below? Does it splash on the other side?

It does sometimes splash on the other side. Also I'll look at the connection. It is in my basement, so it might be possible to replace to the correct y connection. Thanks for the input.
