 Kitchen faucet surging and knocking
Author: Wenyo (DE)

My kitchen faucet has started surging.

When you turn it on it will sometimes run just fine, but then the water flow starts to slow, and the it starts to surge and knock.

It is just the kitchen sink that does this, no other faucet is surging or knocking.

I replaced the faucet and sprayer, and it made no difference.

There is a hammer arrester on the cold line.

Any ideas?

I voted to buy a new house, but the wife kind of likes this one....

Thanks

You replaced the entire faucet and sprayer and the new faucet does the same? Check the angle stop for a bad washer.

I will take a look, but it is happening with both hot and cold. Can both go bad at the same time?

Same issue with mine. Shut off valves weren't open all the way.

Municipal or private well water?

Well, I replaced the angle valve on the cold water line, but it didn't make a difference.
The water runs fine for a while, sometimes as long as a minute or two. But then it slows and starts to pulse.

I am on city water.
None of the other taps have problems.
The water pressure seems to be the same as it always was.

Any other ideas?

Wendell

Disconnect the faucet from the angle stops, run water thru just one angle stop at a time into bucket and see it if still does it. Check hot and cold side separately from each other. If it still does it without faucet connected - then trace backwards and see what is going on.

Can you remove water hammer arrestor and check with out it installed ?

Best to post a picture(s) so we can see how things are hooked up etc......
