I was looking at a house for sale and noticed that one of the bathrooms had a sink that did not have an overflow hole. With the stopper down to hold water in the sink it would eventually fill up and run onto the floor. I was surprised someone would select a sink without an overflow, can't imagine any cost savings would outweigh the problems of having water run over the sink edge. Other than cost is there another reason someone would install a sink without an overflow, like maybe appearance or something? It seemed dumb to me but I'm open to the possibility of a good reason to do this that I'm not aware of.
Thanks!

I guess I was thinking about bathroom sinks, with kids and distracted seniors leaving the water running. Probably not a big deal, I'm just a worry person.
