I've started having an issue with the sewer in my house not draining properly. The line starts in the kitchen with the washer and sink sharing a drain which goes straight to the bathroom where the shower connects to the same line. At the end of this line is the toilet, and right past the toilet is the exit to the 4" sewer going out. A bathroom sink is connected from the side to same line the shower and washer share. I've lived here for a few years without problem, but now the waste water from the washer backs up into the shower unless I manually open and shut the washer to control the flow of water. While this is happening my toilet and both sinks bubble air, and the toilet has the water sucked out of the bowl. Wth is going on? I don't think it's clogged, I live alone and know what goes down the drain, so what can be causing this?

The line IS plugged at least partially and needs to be mechanicly cleaned and inspected with a camera.

Hmm, probably not going to do that unless it clogs completely. I'm guessing it's got to be roots. Any recommendations on the best root killer? I had been looking at Zep root killer, but I didn't want to spend the money without some advice.

A classic partition clog. "I Don't Think Its Clog" is not going to clear and clean the sewerline, by itself. Time for professional intervention.... a licensed plumber, with the proper equipment and the knowledge to use it. Or.... you can wait until you have a complete blockage..... and that is NO Fun.

Hi Wheelchair, I noticed you posted pretty much the same thing for someone else with a somewhat similar problem. What exactly is a "partition clog"? I googled it and you're the only person to use this term that came up.

A partition clog, can develop on the lower half of a solid pipe. It will allow overflow of liquids while holding solids. A sewer camera can spot it like a hawk, when used properly. You did not mention how old the pipes or the house was. I'm guessing its an older house

Yeah, its been around for awhile. I can't afford a plumber or that would have already been done. Going to get some copper sulfate today to start trying to kill any roots that may be in there. Thanks for the explanation.

Chemicals, might be the answer to your question, so save your receipts, in case it doesn't work and you can take it back to where you purchased it.
