it makes you wonder...where he learned this.

Did he see a plumber do it this way?

Did he see another youtube video on this?

or did he go to a big box store and grabbed parts in the plumbing aisle and through trial and error and finally came to the conclusion this is the way?

now the big question is what is his explanation for the metal shield? Did he buy it, take the shield off, and thought the shield was just "extra stuff" like how some fixtures you buy give you an extra screw in case you lose one?

Author: sum (FL) In the video he used a rubber sleeve in between the PVC fitting and the cast iron pipe. Isn't that the rubber sleeve inside a shielded coupling? I assume he bought a shielded coupling, tossed the metal shield aside, and used the sleeve and silicone between the fitting and the pipe, no?

Author: packy (MA) no, that is one of those rubber sleeves meant as a substitute for lead and oakum. he lathered it up with silicone and put it on upsidedown.
