I was in the midst of successfully removing globs of my daughter's hair from a tub drain with one of those plastic "hair snare" sticks from Home Depot when I realized that half the hair snare broke off in the drain. I removed the stopper and looked down the drain with a flashlight and I can't even see the broken piece. I imagine this will cause me big problems in the future as hair and debris collect around the broken piece. Any suggestions? Thanks! Erin

how you get it out depends on how far it is in and how much is in there.
you can try another 'hair snare'..
go easy as you don't want to push it in any further than it already is.

Try a wet/dry shop vac. Hold a wet cloth over the tub overflow to improve suction.

It would be an unusual tub drain if the pipe went DOWN, instead of sideways under the drain plug, so the piece should only be a few inches away.
